Exploring the Coastline with the New England Aquarium
The New England Aquarium invites island visitors to discover what lies beneath the water in and around Spectacle Island. Learn about unique species of marine life, take part in a guided beach exploration and examine how our actions can impact Boston Harbor and our world's oceans.
Through hands-on exploration, island visitors will learn about the beach and dock areas of Spectacle Island, its resident species and what to look for.
Each session will incorporate the following objectives and content:
- Taking part in hands-on exploration and discovery
- Highlighting connections between humans and Boston Harbor's marine environment
- Encouraging people to protect the oceans
- Raising awareness of climate change issues

Directions
Take the park ferry to this program.During the summer season, park ferries depart frequently from Long Wharf, Boston to Spectacle Island. We suggest arriving at the dock at least 30 minutes prior to departure to allow time for ticketing and boarding. Regular ferry fees apply.
An interisland ferry connecting Georges and Spectacle Islands operates on Fridays-Sundays. Georges Island is accessible from four mainland piers.
