Featured Program Snow Day on Spectacle Island 2/20/2010
Don’t let all the snow keep you in your house all winter! Join Park Rangers and REI staff members for a SNOW DAY ON SPECTACLE ISLAND. Bring your snowshoes, cross-country skiis, and hiking boots to experience the island during the winter. This event is also part of the Olympics in Our Parks program highlighting winter sports at DCR locations and will include snowshoeing races and activities. Join us for the fun. REI will even loan a limited number of snowshoes to the first participants to sign-up for the trip.
Island Sunset Series 6/23/2010
Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands sponsor the Island Sunset Series. The first trip will be to Little Brewster Island, home of Boston Light, the oldest lighthouse site in the country. The Museum Room in the base of the lighthouse tower shall be open for viewing. There will not be enough time to climb the lighthouse tower. Pack a picnic and enjoy the harbor islands in the evening. The evening sky and island atmosphere are a special environment at night. There is no food sold on the boat or the island. Park policy is no pets and no alcohol. The boat departs from Rowes Wharf Water Transport in Boston.
Island Sunset Series 7/21/2010
Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands sponsor the Island Sunset Series. 2010 dates are June 23, July 7, July 21, August 4 and August 18. The actual island destination will be announced in early February. Enjoy the island at twilight and sunset. Explore on your own or take a guided walk. Bring a picnic supper; there is no food sold on the boat or the island. Park policy is no pets and no alcohol.
