For some visitors, simply riding the park ferry around the harbor is enough of an experience. During summer, you can leave from Downtown Boston, Quincy, Hingham, or Hull. You get to see the islands from the water—and make choices for your next visit. A park ranger is often on board to answer your questions. Returning, you get a new perspective on Boston and the mainland.
Commuter boats run as part of the Greater Boston water transportation network also provide views of the islands. Boats connect Boston, Salem, Hull, Hingham, and Quincy. Several companies offer cruises in the inner harbor; views of the islands are distant from these vessels.
